Can I try Commercial features before paying?
Yes. Once you’ve verified your email, generate a free evaluation key from Your account. You get one key for one instance, with multiple active databases and native backup and restore for development and testing. Your 30 days start when you generate it. There’s no card required and no automatic charge. When it expires, writes and restore stop, but reads and backup exports still work. There’s no extra grace period: install a paid key to keep writing to that data directory. Removing the trial key won’t switch it back to Developer mode.
What counts as a core?
We count the logical CPUs allocated to each instance, including VM and container vCPUs. Fractions round up, so an allocation of 1.5 CPUs needs two licensed cores. Set your instance’s CPU limit to match your licence.
What happens when my licence expires?
A paid Commercial licence includes a 14-day grace period after the paid term so you can install a replacement key. The free evaluation ends after 30 days, with no extra grace period. Once the key expires, writes and restore stop; reads and Commercial backup exports still work. Install a paid or renewed key and restart the server to resume writing.
Will my licence renew automatically?
That’s your choice for a new one-, two- or three-year term: select automatic renewal or make a one-off purchase. Five-year licences are prepaid and renewed manually. You can manage billing and cancellation in your account. After renewal, you’ll still need to install the new key on your database.
What is included in the free editions?
A fresh instance starts in Developer mode, with multiple cores for development and evaluation. No account or key needed. For personal projects, select Personal mode and allocate one core. Both include Cypher, GDS and APOC, with one active user database plus the system database. Commercial adds multiple active user databases and native backup and restore.
